Quality Management Systems

• Partner with plant management teams to facilitate process improvements to meet plant and department metrics, including, but not limited to, Cost of Quality
• Establish and leverage the internal audit system to verify compliance with SQF programs, MOPs, SOPs, etc.
• Manage all components of the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with SQF and other customer requirements
• Manage third-party audits through work with the entire plant team

Quality Culture

• Develop relationships and work with cross-functional teams through collaboration, resolution of conflicts, and effective communication to ensure plant and departmental metrics are met
• Coach employees to interact effectively with operations and other departments to complete departmental work
• Select and develop employees to advance their proficiency at each of the Quality competencies
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the technical support staff
• Facilitate employee training to ensure employees in all functions understand how quality impacts the internal and external customer, and how their role affects product quality
• Serve as acting Food Safety Manager in that person’s absence

Voice of Consumer

• Provide support to internal customers by providing data analysis, project work, and team leadership to meet their needs
• Identify and manage product threats, including mitigation of threats through root cause analysis and process improvements
• Assess process and products and make
effective decisions to mitigate process and product failures
• Utilize Voice of the Consumer feedback to determine product parameters and communicate needs to operations

Departmental Planning

• Develop, manage & complete departmental project work linked to company objectives and goals
• Guide employees to align their work with long-term goals, and alignment with the company strategic direction
• Manage product risk by considering the company, customer, and regulatory requirements to produce safe, quality foods
• Prioritize departmental work to prevent product & process failures and meet yearly objectives and goals

Qualifications

Experience 5 + years
Education Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Biology, Food Science, Quality Management, or Meat Science
Certifications HACCP Certification preferred; Lean / Six Sigma preferred
Knowledge Food Safety and/or Quality in Food manufacturing, preferably meat products
Travel Local and or overnight travel is required this percentage of time 20%
