Summary

The Environmental Health Safety Manager is responsible to implement and monitor comprehensive environmental, health and safety programs. Develop and maintain activities to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions utilizing knowledge of industrial health and safety laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Train and advise on safety procedures and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Illinois State Regulations.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures to meet specific safety needs of the company.
  • Develops and implements onsite safety, environment, and/or emergency management programs designed to respond to individual situations and to improve overall safety conditions.
  • Leads management of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Planning (RMP) for ammonia refrigeration system.
  • Interacts with management supervisors and workers in order to identify and correct unsafe conditions or work activities.
  • Provide analytical data that tracks injury trends that determine type of injury, location and specific job tasks of injuries and provide recommendation to eliminate hazards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field required.
  • Five years of experience managing environmental or safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to adapt and lead in a changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

RN Plant Nurse

The Opportunity

The Plant Nurse provides medical care, delivers safety and health training and coordinates wellness activities. The Plant Nurse will build relationships with the associates through coaching and monitoring on the floor, use their experience and passion for health and wellness through developing programs, faciliting wellness fairs and activities, and partnering with 3rd party vendors, audit and ensure associates are using personal protective equipment and following safety guidelines. The Plant Nurse will conduct drug and alcohol screening for new hires and for active associates, serve on the Plant Ergonomics Team, and work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager and plant management team on improving safety outcomes. Full-time or part-time status is open for discussion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid and follow-up care to associates with physical complaints and assess the need for internal treatment, or whether an employee needs outside medical attention for work-related and personal medical conditions.
  • Coordinate wellness activities such as flu shots, tetanus shots, wellness education, wellness fairs, wellness coaching, education on generic vs. brand name drugs and education on network vs.non-network doctors or hospitals.
  • Ensure compliance with Land O’Frost, Inc. Hearing Conservation Program, including hearing test follow-up with Audiologist or M.D. as required.
  • Maintain all OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Develop and communicate training schedules with Department Supervisors or Managers.
  • Facilitate EHS policies and procedures to management and hourly employees through training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager or EHS Director.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Illinois in good standing.
  • Must be fluent in conversational speaking/writing in English/Spanish.
  • Ability to conduct safety and health training.
  • Must be a certified trainer for CPR/First Aid/AED within six months of employment.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient using Microsoft Office applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be available to work other shifts or flexible with hours as required.

Food Safety Manager

The Opportunity

The Food Safety Manager implements and manages process control systems and preventative actions in food safety area. Manages HACCP and Regulatory compliance issues. This includes food safety issues that are controlled by SSOP, HACCP or other pre-requisite programs. Develops employees through education, training, monitoring, and mentoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Improving operations to deliver safe, quality food to consumers.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance to meet food safety objectives. (USDA)
  • Implements and manages process control systems and preventative actions in food safety area.
  • Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of SSOP plan, including employee training and reporting of SSOP violations and deviations.
  • Manages the following programs, Listeria Prevention and Control, Pest Control, and Allergen.
  • General Microbiology ensuring that all procedures associated with micro sample collection and analysis are developed and maintained.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Project management skills – capable of working on and managing multiple high priority projects.
  • Technical knowledge of food safety, food science, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of process control methods and application of preventative practices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Food Safety Management required.

Corporate Industrial Engineer (Illinois or Arkansas)

The Opportunity 

The Corporate Industrial Engineer develops and leads projects across supply chain to increase productivity, maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and drive down product costs wherever possible.  Ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and project management skills, is a self-starter, and has a strong background in IE, Plant Engineering/Operations, and IE/Productivity Engineering including Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma tools.  Position location Searcy, AR or Lansing, IL. 

Responsibilities

  • Act as Corporate Industrial Engineer resource for establishing work measurement programs, conducting motion studies, and recommending methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities.
  • Act as Project Manager on plant or corporate initiatives, focusing on cost reduction projects.
  • Support Marketing and R&D on new product development projects as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Meat Plant Operations/Engineering.
  • Preferred 3 years minimum experiences in Continuous Improvement/Industrial Engineering role.
  • Experience in time measurement techniques.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other analytical software.
